Brand Strategy

Ripley St Thomas is the largest school in Lancashire with over 1700 pupils. It is renowned for academic success and was rated Ofsted 'outstanding' in their last two inspections. Founded in 1864, the school boasts beautiful grounds complete with school chapel, swimming pool and working school farm that provides produce for the school kitchen.

As part of the transition to academy status, Ripley required a new identity to reflect the school’s new name.

Ripley is well respected with many generations of families attending the school and strong alumni community. We were therefore conscious to retain the iconic school crest with a refined flat aesthetic set against traditional typeface.

The use of premium materials and finishes for print provides a tactile quality that conveys the prestigious nature of the school.

Photography is key to communicating the uniqueness of Ripley St Thomas. Working with Tiree Dawson at Random Chair, we provided art direction to opt for a softer, more natural look to represent the everyday and the unusual — from exciting science experiments to competitive sport events.
