Founded in 1919, Morecambe Community High School was originally a grammar school and later a comprehensive. Ahead of an academy conversion, the school needed to rethink its identity to reflect a new era.

Looking to the future and focusing on improving academic standards, the school’s leadership required an identity to be proud of, reflecting their rich heritage and forward-thinking approach.

Taking inspiration from the school’s previous grammar school identity, we designed the crest around a ship to reference the coastal location and the idea of journey — fitting for the school’s relaunch as Morecambe Bay Academy.

The historical colour palette of blues, burgundy and gold feature as secondary colours for the uniform and provide colour coding for communication.

The school website focuses on serving four end primary users — parents, students, staff and those looking to join the school. The custom design places user experience at the forefront, designed with a mobile first approach for getting information on the go.

The homepage prioritises news, events and FAQs, to ensure users are able to find the information they need quickly and reduce telephone enquiries to the school.
